Envision Peace Museum is a social change museum. As such, Envision believes in “making the road by walking.” Rather than waiting until the many millions needed to build the ultimate building are raised, Envision is reaching out and fulfilling its mission from the start.
Some examples of this include:
A New traveling exhibit, Windows and Mirrors
This fall, 2010, Envision has had the pleasure of working with the Nobel Peace Prize-winning American Friends Service Committee on a new traveling exhibit called Windows and Mirrors. As a co-sponsor of this exhibit, Envision was able to help conceptualize participatory aspects, which were key to the success of this project geared toward public dialogue and reflection. Focusing on the impacts on civilians in the current U.S. war in Afghanistan, Windows and Mirrors consists of over 45 murals from artists around the USA.
Our first exhibit, Lost Stories
This traveling exhibit began circulation in January, 2009, and continues to be in popular demand. Lost Stories tells six stories of ordinary persons who, in confronting conflict and injustice, helped change the world around them through nonviolent means.
While Envision Peace Museum has no religious affiliation, the Museum prepared this exhibit for a national ecumenical peace conference. View the exhibit here. Lost Stories of Faith (the exhibit’s full name) is available for loan to organizations. If you are interested in bringing the exhibit to your community, contact the Museum for details: Borrow The Exhibit.
Envision House Parties
Since Fall 2009, the Envision Board has been connecting with a wide range of supporters via a series of house parties. Each of these social gatherings has included a presentation followed by energetic discussion. These “friend-raising” events are opportunities to spread the word about Envision, gather feedback, and garner ongoing support. Hosting a home party is a great way to help Envision grow. Contact Director Michael Gagné at director@envisionpeacemuseum.org or at 610-348-1464 if you are interested. Envision will provide support, ideas, and tools that will help make the event a success.
Public Listening Sessions and Talks
We believe that genuine dialogue is transformational. As such, Envision is happy to facilitate and participate in conferences and community forums. Our experiences with such dialogs have been exciting and inspiring. Envision also brings its work to classrooms, school assemblies, and college campuses.

Story Gathering Project
The world is rich with success stories of individuals and movements, well-known and hidden away, who have used nonviolent action effectively to:
- respond to attacks on their persons or communities
- protect their families
- defend the environment
- struggle for justice and democracy
- stand up for the marginalized
- bring an end to war
A key mission of Envision Peace Museum is to uncover, preserve, and disseminate these stories in dynamic exhibit media. Do you have such a story? Share it here!
